Business Intelligence Software Research Study – Business intelligence is a concept used by software vendors and IT consultants to describe the infrastructure for storing, integrating, reporting and analyzing data from the business environment (Laudon & Laudon, 2012). The main purpose of business intelligence is to integrate the information flow produced by the enterprise into a certain set of data (Galliers, 1992).

Through the use of different models, methods of statistical analysis of data processing are taken that allow managers to formulate certain strategies of enterprise development, to define immediate and perspective goals (Busen and Myers, 1997). By using various data of predictive modeling, the company develops its strategy in the market taking into account the influence of customer segments (Ang&Teo, 2000).

Using Data Visualization Tools To Mitigate The Influx Of Information In Organizations

The objective of the project is to achieve maximum performance of the CGR company specializing in distribution services. The problem is that the company uses an outdated accounting system and its income and expenses are poorly controlled. The company has a large lorry fleet.

Due to bad marketing policy of the company there are frequent logistic mistakes, which increases fuel consumption and wastes time. The business intelligence system used in the research is specialized in door-to-door delivery services and is working on the GPS principle. With the help of business intelligence solutions, we will try to optimize the company’s activity and study the best ways for it.

A typical business intelligence system includes an executive information system (EIS), databases and programs that link and supply system components with data. (Arnott, O’Donnell, & Jirachiefpattana, 2002). The business intelligence system described in this project uses software that includes EIS, databases and specific hardware. The company’s drivers were not informed about the implementation of the new system in the enterprise. The controllers were secretly installed in their cars. The dispatcher had the opportunity to observe the movement of vehicles on the city map through the monitoring of the vehicle system. The system was able to generate daily and weekly reports regarding vehicle routes. The purpose of the experiment in its initial phase was to check whether drivers were deviating from the route.

The trial lasted for a week. Data collection was organized on the basis of reports represented by the system. The system consisted of hardware, which was the controllers installed in the vehicles, and software, which was a special program installed in the dispatch center.

Business Value Study

At the dispatcher’s request or automatically, the signal, via GPS, was sent from the dispatch center to the controller, thus providing the dispatcher with all the necessary information such as the vehicle’s route and the like. Its current status. Keeping in view the safety objective, various sensors installed in the vehicle were also provided in the system.

During the test, it was found that the driver violated the traffic rules and deviated from the route. It was found that 46% of drivers were violating job procedures for greedy purposes, which caused material damage to the enterprise. During the processing of the data received from the system, the route of the honest driver was also found to be badly thought out. The next stage of the experiment indicates the acquisition of data for the elaboration of the right path and table. The data was sent to the logistics department.

In general, the course of the experiment was successful. However, there were some problems with data processing. Business intelligence systems have been successfully implemented in many organizations and industry sectors (Gunter & Frolick, 1991).
